Each piece begins when I saw, shave, file, and sand down a box of wax. The hand-carved wax model is a historical architecture in miniature form. This wax piece is then pressed into a special sand mixture, capturing its essence in a mold that awaits molten silver. The alchemy of sandcasting means no two pieces are ever identical. I often rework the wax piece before I do another sand casting. Often I start all over again just to have a new version. Even when born from the same wax model, each necklace emerges with its own unique texture and character, a testament to the unpredictable beauty of the process.
