Description
A silver disc with subtle hills and valleys embraces a 2mm lab-grown ruby. This piece is made with the method of stone-in-place sandcasting which involves pressing a model into a special sand imported from Europe for use by jewelers. Once the mold is pressed into the sand, a precious stone is placed into the mold. Molten silver is then poured into the mold and traps the stone securing its place in the precious metal. Though the process can be repeated with the same model, the vagaries involved ensure no piece is alike. The result is a captivating harmony of precious materials, their natural attributes, and their reactions to fire and pressure.
