This striking silver ring showcases the beauty of natural materials and handcrafted techniques as it evokes the contrast of ice and fire. The irregular band, created using the process of sandcasting, showcases a vibrant ruby. The process of sandcasting a stone in place is risky as the stone may be damaged and the results are always a surprise. As the molten silver ran down into the mold it enveloped a lab-grown ruby securing it safely in the band. For this particular ring, the band has been polished to a mirror-like glow along one side. Slices have been cut into the bottom replicating ice. A bold and organic ring, this piece celebrates the raw beauty of natural materials and the serendipity of a process that ensures nothing but the unexpected.
